March 22 - 29, 2020 Weekly Review

Well, we made it through March Break! It's sure looked different from other years.

It's been a little lonely, a little scary, and a little sad.

More people have been getting sick, people have lost their jobs, and sadly some have lost their hope.

It happened to me on Friday, I reached out to a couple of my friends, via text and within 10 minutes we were laughing. Stay connected, as humans we crave each other.

I do want to comment on our governments at all levels. No matter what your political stripe is, in my opinion, this is not the time to be critical.

When we put our name on the nomination papers, not one of us thought that we would be facing a worldwide pandemic. Each level of government has taken a look at their responsibilities and has tried to come up with the solutions that make sense. Helping people and small business try to get through this difficult time, and I commend each and everyone of them.

Literally millions of dollars from, both Federal and Provincial governments, have been released to help families and businesses. Now, we wait patiently on the process to access it.

So back to being positive. Keep up your routine. Get up for your walk. Dust off that Fitbit charge it up and get your 10,000 steps in a day. Sign up for online workouts. Go to bed at the same time each day. Your mind needs that. Set goals for yourself. Here's the goals I've set for myself:

  1. Get out everyday. If you don't want to be alone, walk with people you live with. Depression is real, but it is factual that exercise helps this, whether inside or out.
  2. To not gain weight. My gym closed, as did many, but my coach is offering online classes so I sign up everyday and do my class.
  3. To be positive. Probably the hardest goal, but I am committed to this. There are a residents and businesses out there doing amazing things, and I'm sharing those to encourage others to do the same.
  4. Turn off the TV. I have always had an excuse for not cleaning out closets, junk drawers etc. This is the time to look through your house and set some goals. Do one thing everyday.
  5. Put on music and sing at the top of your lungs.

Listen up Ajax, we are going to get through this.

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Keep your hands away from your face.
  3. It's still ok to go outside, as long as you are practicing social distancing - hockey stick length between you and others that don't live with you.

Smile at someone today, you may just make their day!
